Kenmare Kestrels

Kenmare Kestrels Basketball Club would like to thank all of our volunteer coaches, table help, parent volunteers and Kestrels Academy volunteers for making our community basketball club such a success this season.
Our senior ladies, playing in Division 1, narrowly missed out winning the league, despite an historic win over St Mary’s A at home. The Kestrels led by Montse Salvado, Caroline Taylor, Annie Cooper, Michelle O’Sullivan, Katie Cooper, Laura Myles, and Anna Marie Adams were brilliant on the night came defeated St Mary’s by 3. It was possible the biggest win considering St Mary’s A were undefeated and the best opponent the club has faced. In the end, it was Annie Cooper’s magical shot and our stubborn defence that ensured victory for our ladies. However, a loss mid-week to KCYMS ended our title hopes. The ladies were then knocked out of the Cup losing by 1 point after being down by 17 at one point to St Mary’s B. All in all, it was a great season for our ladies and coach John Adams.
The other shining light this season was our U12 Boys who one the Plate with an exciting Overtime win vs Glenbeigh Falcons. It finished Kenmare Kestrels 39 – Glenbeigh Falcons 36. Well done coach Aisling Harrington and players: Mark Torpey, Kevin O’Shea, Jimmy Lehane, Feargal O’Sullivan, Dylan Wallace, Jamie O’Reagan, Hugh Granville, Aodan MacGearalt, Mark Casey, Aidan Crowley, Tom Quinlan, and Liam Palmer. Well done Kestrels.
