McCloskey opens up in Kenmare

After 17 years working in photography and having a successful career licensing and selling images for Ireland’s premier sports photography agency, Inpho Photography Norman McCloskey has turned his focus to his own work and opened a gallery in Kenmare.
McCloskey has been photographing the Irish landscape from his base in Kenmare for the last 23 years having moved there from Limerick and making it his home.
His passion for photographing the wild and dramatic landscape of Kerry and West Cork is undiminished and his work continues to evolve, achieving growing success, recognition and awards worldwide.
The gallery has been a long held ambition since he first paid a visit to what was then the only photography gallery in the country, belonging to Giles Norman in Kinsale in 1993. That visit instilled the dream to one day open his own. In the years since he has continually produced new work of his surrounding areas, as well as throughout the country and further afield to locations such as Iceland, Africa and Antarctica. However it is his deep love and connection to the Irish Landscape that provides the endless inspiration for his growing body of work. Previously his photography has been exhibited in solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad and has been published extensively in mainstream and photographic press and journals.
In 2013 he published his first photographic book PARKLIGHT, Images of Killarney National Park.. which was the first photographic book produced on Ireland’s oldest and best known National Park. The book was a huge success selling out it’s first print run, gaining recognition and press worldwide and was awarded 2nd prize in the International Photography Awards, Nature book section.
The gallery showcases the best of McCloskey’s work to date spanning 2 decades and are all printed and framed on site .
