Fiachne Day Centre situated in Kenmare Community Nursing Unit

Our ‘Fiachne Garden Project’ is progressing well, with our polytunnel now erected. A big thank you to Thomas, Michael and Kieran from
Kenmare Adult Education Centre who kindly donated their time and labour to erecting this tunnel for us.
Our Gardening Tutor, Sarah O Brien (funded by Kenmare Mental Health Association) is a fantastic asset to our Day Centre. Sarah’s dedication to our garden project is phenomenal. Her knowledge and delivery of same has given us great enthusiasm for gardening whilst also benefiting the mental health of all those who participate in her group.
Many thanks to John Daly for his donation of topsoil; Donald Lynch for transporting topsoil to our site; John R McCarthy for giving a very generous discount on garden materials; Star Seafoods Ltd for their kind donation; and Willow Field Garden Centre for their donation of garden materials.
Our focus on community integration and social inclusion continues. We encourage our service-users to attend classes and activities in the locality of Kenmare, incorporating these out-of-centre activities into our timetable at Fiachne Day Centre.
The people of Kenmare have been a tremendous help in the setting up of our new service. Many thanks to Maggie O Sullivan Graham, Adult Education Centre; Gordon at Kenmare Family Centre; and the many others who have given their support.
Other up-coming activities include a volunteer coming in playing the guitar and giving beauty treatments and HSE representative giving art classes.
The Church Gate Collection for Kenmare Branch of Kerry Mental Health Association for Kenmare Templenoe and Direendarragh areas, is on Sat 26th and Sunday 27th of September. Please Support.
Helena Buckley. Nurse Manager, Fiachne Day Centre.
