Neidin Bowls Club greeted the Spring with the extension of bowling sessions from Mondays and Thursdays, 10.45 to 1pm to include a regular weekly session on Friday evening beginning 6.45pm until 9 pm.
Tuition, bowls and refreshment break are provided, all you need are flat soled shoes. Come and give it a try, it is fun.
On April 4th we hosted the Sean Chairde EBS Shield competition for teams from all over Kerry, these being Neidin, Killarney, Kilorglin, Beaufort and K.C.K . The winners of the first round went on to play for the Shield and runners up played for the Plate. After some very close matches the Shield was claimed by the Beaufort Hobbits, M.Grant (Skip), Elaine Scully, Gisela Gloge and Sara Peden against Killarney. Our own Gannets, Maeve Arnold (Skip) Sue Eccles, Trish Delvalle and Gary Boyton were beaten by one point and Kilorglin B team, Michael Sullivan (Skip) George Teahan, Eileen McGillycuddy and Mary Teahan, won the plate. This very busy enjoyable day was rounded off with an excellent dinner at the Kenmare Bay Hotel, during which the presentations were made by Vera Shaw, Neidin Bowls Club Chairperson.
In the past month we have also been active playing at several locations in the Cork area.
We received invitations from Wilton, Ballinlough, Carrigaline and Watergrasshill. The Neidin Seals, reached the quarter finals at Carrigaline; a very worthy achievement.
We are always made very welcome by the members of the Irish Indoor Bowls Association and we are gaining experience all the time, our increased skills being recognised and complimentary comments given accordingly.
