StarCamp comes to Kenmare

Starcamp is coming to Kenmare his Summer and will be hosting their fabulous camp in Pobailscoil Inbhear Sceine from July 18th to 22nd.
StarCamp is Ireland’s leading, most exciting and uplifting Summer camp experience. In 170 towns across 32 counties this Summer, boys and girls aged from 4 to12 will get to spend one week of their summer holidays playing camp games, singing Disney classics, dancing to the latest chart topper, acting out their favorite movie scene, doing arts and crafts, making new friends, building self-esteem and confidence, laughing, having fun, putting on a show and lots more.
Whether born for the stage or the shy, less confident child who has never danced a step in their lives, StarCamp caters for all.
With over a third boys attending StarCamp and advancing programs for older children this year’s participants will indulge in movies such as The Minions, Beauty & The Beast, Inside Out and The Jungle Book, they’ll engage in activities such as The News Show and sing and dance their hearts out to some of their favorite tunes. What’s not to love?
Camps will be facilitated by the incredibly talented and gifted staff that are hand-picked to work at StarCamp, most who been there for years. All are fully and thoroughly training and Garda-vetted.
StarCamp’s core ethos has always been to instill confidence in children. This year, they have added a twist. With children’s self-esteem and mental health in mind – they have now added some gentle and positive mindfulness to an already choc-a-block existing program.
Preparations are busily underway at Starcamp HQ to create the best and most fun Starcamp experience to date and it promises not to disappoint. “Having included some basic mindfulness techniques last year, it was such an incredibly positive hit with the children that it is being incorporated in a small way into all camps this year, just for a couple of minutes each day. It is simply getting the children to relax and then guiding their thoughts to a positive and relaxed place whereby compassion and self-belief are encouraged. The rest of the day can be highly excitable, loud, fun, colourful, quite full on – this forms part of the much needed down time that balances the day. Combine this with the fact that new research has just shown how singing and performance increases immune proteins, reduces stress and improves the mood and we have a camp that even Moms and Dads would want to attend!”
