Pobalscoil athletes excel

Well done to the five Pobalscoil athletes Cormac O’Sullivan Triple Jump, Conor O’Brien 1200m Walk, Christine McCarthy High Jump, Alyce O’Connor and Rhona Randles in the 1500m who travelled to Tullamore with their Athletics teacher Ms Majella Murphy to compete at the All Schools Track and Field Finals this month.
Many thanks to the parents who travelled to
Tullamore and also to the parents who travelled to other distant venues during the year to support our wonderful athletes and to all our school supporters and to our friends at Kenmare AC Tadhg O’Donoghue, Louise Randles, Tara and Jer McCarthy, Josie Randles, Tessa Dennison, Tommy Palmer and Conor Daly who have supported us throughout the year at various events. All five athletes did the school proud at national level in Tullamore. Rhona and Alyce finished 5th and 6th with personal bests in the 1500m, Conor was 7th in the Walk, Christine was 7th in the High Jump and Cormac was 12th in the Triple Jump. An excellent day of top class athletics was experienced by all concerned and it was a great achievement to have 5 athletes representing the school in track and field events at All-Ireland Schools level.
