Update on Kenmare Market Traders Regulation and Notification of upcoming Public Meeting in Kenmare

We would like to update you on the current situation regarding the
Regulation of Market Trading in Kenmare.
As you will appreciate the situation relating to Kerry County Council
regulating Market Trading in the town is a serious situation and it is necessary for a united decision to be made by every citizen in Kenmare.
It has therefore been decided that a full and open public meeting will be held in Kenmare in the coming weeks. Once the details of this meeting are confirmed we will advise you as soon as possible.
In the meantime, we hope to put proposed layout options on public display again we will advise you as to where you will be able to view these as soon as possible.
As previously stated The Market Traders are an essential part of life here in Kenmare. Our aim is to regulate Market Trading in the town NOT to remove it BUT to find a solution that is agreeable to everyone.
We feel let down and disappointed by Kerry County Council who benefit from the rates being paid by the businesses in the town.
No meaningful results have been achieved on this issue over the last fifteen years despite all efforts by the Chamber of Commerce and sub committees representing the people of the town to come to a solution that benefits all.
After 30 years of building an international brand that is Kenmare we need to retain the profile that we have built. We are competing with towns all over Ireland for tourism business which feeds down into every strand of the local economy.
This is the single most serious issue facing the success and prosperity of the town and its people.
Please support us in our endeavours to achieve a fair and just outcome.
The Chamber of Commerce, KMEG and The Market Trading
Regulation Committee Members.
