Hospitality ‘Oscars’ for Kenmare businesses? by Heike O’Sullivan

The Hotel & Catering Review is Ireland’s leading magazine for the
hospitality and catering industries. It has been organising the industry’s most rigorous and competitive independent awards programme, the
prestigious Gold Medal Awards, for the past 28 years.
Judged by industry experts, the Awards recognise and honour excellence in hotels, restaurants, spas and catering operations across the island of Ireland. Business owners can submit an application for the Awards and are then subjected to a ‘mystery shopper’ style visit.
According to Michael Brennan, General Manager of Killarney’s 5-star The Europe Hotel & Resort, “the Gold Medal Awards are the pinnacle of the Irish hospitality industry. They are the most sought after award.” Keelings Farm Fresh, owned by Pallas Foods, is the competition’s headline sponsor again for 2016.

Brook Lane Hotel Kenmare (Ireland’s Hotel Breakfast – Public Vote)
The Kenmare Bay Hotel & Resort (Ireland’s 3 Star Hotel)
Park Hotel Kenmare (Ireland’s 5 Star Hotel; Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way Restaurant; Ireland’s Hotel Spa – 5 Star; Ireland’s Hotel Breakfast – Public Vote)
Parknasilla Resort & Spa (Ireland’s Wild Atlantic Way Restaurant)
The 2016 Gold Medal Awards will be hosted at the multi-award winning, 5 star Lyrath Estate & Spa in Kilkenny, on 27th September. A black tie gala awards ceremony will be a fitting venue for the presentation of this much coveted prize.
On behalf of the people of the Kenmare and Sneem region, we would like to extend many congratulations to the shortlisted businesses, and wish them much success against some very distinguished competitors, at the
