The Ice Bar, Ireland’s 1st Irish Craft Ale & Wine Bar…..probably!

“ Norwegian Airlines don’t fly into Kerry yet but exciting things are happening at Tom Crean Fish & Wine. There is a new addition, The Ice Bar, serving locally brewed craft ales and cider and Frizzante and wines on tap. The beer is supplied by local producers so not only are you getting a quality product but you are supporting local craft industry with little or no carbon footprint.
As the season and the Ice Bar evolves so will our selection of craft ales and wines. At the moment, there are three draught ales; Lon Dubh a stout from 9 White Deer Brewery in Ballyvourney, loved by Guinness drinkers, Expedition Red Ale, contract brewed by Aileen and Bill on behalf of the Crean Family, by Torc Brewery, Coolcashlagh, Killarney, getting great reviews on ‘untapped’ and an American IPA also brewed by Torc. We have a large selection of bottled beers and cider. All the beers and that includes lagers, blonde, red, pale, pilsner, stouts and cider are free from additives, preservatives and artificial colourings, which is a welcome departure from the normal high volume beers that one is normally offered. There is also an extensive range of gluten free beers from 9 White Deer called Stag Saor; Red Ale, Pale Ale, IPA, Kolsh and a Stout.
The ciders are excellent with the main cider offered being from the Longueville estate, Mallow. This is like a French cider, and they also produce Longueville Mór which has apple brandy and is 8% ABV. There is only a limited supply of this as it will be discontinued due to custom and excise taxes which is a pity as it tastes delicious.
A treat also awaits our wine drinkers as we have Frizzante on tap which keeps it fresh and inviting. It’s always good to treat yourself to some bubbly!
Thanks to Denise and Pauline from Kenmare Flowers & Precious Moments for their heart shaped gift mentioning Prosecco, close to all our hearts.
We also have two white wines and red wines on tap, available by the glass or carafe. Call in for a drink in relaxing surroundings and if peckish avail of our bar menu. We are waiting for a wine from a small vineyard in Africa called Fram after the ship Amundsen sailed to Antarctica in the race for the Pole, I will have it in stock for a group of Norwegian journalists that will be visiting shortly. The owner of the vineyard is also visiting in May and we look forward to show casing Kenmare to them.
The Ice Bar is suitable for group bookings, wedding parties or whatever your occasion. Looking forward to welcoming you. Sláinte from Aileen and all at Tom Crean’s.”
