First report in the history of Dail or Senate on a United Ireland written by Senator Mark Daly on behalf of the Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement entitled ‘Brexit & the Future of Ireland : Ireland & Its People Uniting in Peace & Prosperity.’
The 1232 page report looks at the effects of Brexit on Ireland, what Ireland should seek to have in the final agreement on Brexit between the EU and UK. Finally it examines what Ireland needs to do in order to peacefully achieve its aims as outlined in Articles 2 & 3 of the Constitution which was endorsed by 94% of people in a referendum. The report shows that the economy would improve by €36.5 billion in the first 8 years after unity. There are writings from High Count Justice Humphrey’s and President Obamas senior policy advisor on countering violent extremists.
Government needs to tackle the rising costs of motor insurance. The minister answered questions in the Senate on the Reports of the Joint Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform and Taoiseach entitled ‘Report on the Rising Costs of Motor Insurance’ and the Cost of Insurance Working Group’s Report on the Cost of Motor Insurance. We hope the ministers promises to take action will be kept.
