Cllr Dan McCarthy reports..

Roads.
I will be allocating some of my councillors allocations to the road from Kilmurry cross to Cill Mhuire house estate. I would like to thank the council on their quick response to getting the Kilcurrane road reopened, and also for the hedge cutting that took place at numerous junctions throughout the Kenmare area.

Exams.
Best of luck to all those who are awaiting there leaving cert results in the upcoming weeks.

Drag Hunt.
Kenmare Beagle Association annual drag hunt will take place on Sunday 6th August in Kenmare starting at Gortamullen. This year marks the 100th year of this drag hunt taking place in Kenmare, all spectators are welcome to attend, to see the oldest and longest running sporting event in the locality. It will start at 3pm and there is no charge to spectators.

Cycling.
Well done to all who took part in the Ring of Kerry cycle, also to the volunteers and the various charities that helped to make the cycle such a success. I might just start training for the Ring of Kerry 2018.

GAA.
I would like to congratulate the Kerry minor and Senior teams on winning the Munster title for 2017. I wish them the best of luck as they enter the All-Ireland series.

Tidy Towns.
I would like to congratulate and thank the volunteers and committees of the Tidy towns on their recent achievements; this was a reward for their wonderful endless work that they are doing to keep our town and villages so good. Congratulations particularly to all involved in Kenmare tidy towns which won the overall best small town in Ireland, this was a tremendous achievement ,

Farming.
Sheep farmers are busy with shearing these coming weeks, unfortunately the price of wool has again fallen this year, however despite this lamb prices are good and I would encourage all farmers to check that they have sheep dispatch sheets before planning to sell their sheep as there is up to a 6 week delay on new books being issued to farmers.
