Cllr Dan McCarthy reports…

Fair Day.
Thank you to the Kerry county council staff and those in Kenmare Tidy Towns committee, An Garda Shiochana for their work to help make the fair day such a success. My only concern with this annual event is the lack of public parking available with the area of the town. I will be raising this issue again with Kerry County Council.
Kenmare Peninsula:
Despite what people have being writing and have being saying I have signed the petition that the peninsula should be for the people of Kenmare. This is being dealt with in the courts at present and we will have to await the final judgement. If anyone wants to discuss this matter further with me I am available at any time.
Roads.
There is new traffic calming measures being proposed for the railway road, and copies of this proposal are available in the council office in Kenmare or I have also got a copy, it is important for people to review these plans and express their opinions.
Kilgarvan Show.
Well done to the Kilgarvan Show committee for another successful show despite the weather.
Kenmare Drag hunt.
Kenmare Drag hunt marked a milestone in its history celebrating its 100th year in Kenmare. I would like to thank all the land owners and supporters who make this event such a success.
Leaving Cert Results.
Well done to all who received their leaving certificate results recently.
Rowing.
I would like to congratulate Georgia O’Brien on her European Gold medal win, best wishes in the future.
GAA.
Congratulations to the Kenmare District U21 team on winning the county championship. Best of luck to all our local players who will be wearing the green and gold in their upcoming All-Ireland semi-finals.
I am available every day in Kenmare Mart. I also hold clinics in south and west Kerry throughout the month.
