Golf News
Scratch Cups Reminder. Kenmare Golf Club and Ring of Kerry Golf Club are both holding their scratch cups on Sept 2nd and 3rd, with entry prices of €10 for members and €20 for guests. If you’re thinking of inviting someone to play golf in Kenmare this summer, they won’t find a better chance to play the two courses in fine condition and in two good competitions.
Team Competitions. This is the time of the year that golfers try and salvage their season with a win in a team competition or fundraiser. There are some brilliant individual and team competitions on this summer. From July 14th to 21st Ring of Kerry GC ran a fundraiser for Cork University Hospital that was a huge success. Kenmare GC has two big ones this September with the Kenmare GC 3 Brothers Comp on Sept 7/8/9 and the Kenmare GC Corporate Classic on Sept 29th/30th. For more details on the corporate classic, please contact the club.
3 Brothers Challenge. The annual Kenmare GC 3 Brothers Challenge takes place for the 40th time this September. There’s a full entry and waiting list again this year. On Thursday 7th Sept there’s a special “Welcome Back” event with anyone who took part in any of the 40 years invited back for a special day to mark the anniversary. For full history and details on the competition, check out the Kenmare GC Facebook page. You’ll find winners, photos, timesheets and reports from each of the 40 years in a set of videos and photo albums. We’d recommend a trip to the Golf Club on the Brothers Weekend – the atmosphere has to be sampled to be believed, and there will be great golf to be seen also.
Adult and Child Comp. The annual adult and child competition in kenmare GC takes place on Sun Sept 10th. This is a family-friendly fun comp, with BBQ afterwards. It’s also the time of year where the adults get brought down to earth when they see how good the junior golfers are. All welcome – check local posters and Facebook for entry details, or contact the club.
Happy Golfing!
