It’s all happening at Tahilla School!

The Tahilla Céilí Band was formed last year and the first public performance was on the stage in Sneem on St. Patrick’s Day 2014. The pupils were pleased with their performance and the opportunity to entertain an audience with traditional music .Every pupil gets to play the tinwhistle and also to learn a second instrument. Here they are with their music teacher Peggy Healy.

Green Flag. An Taisce has just informed us that our application for the International Green Flag award has been successful. This is great news for all who worked so hard on the theme of Global Citizenship, Litter and Waste. Imagine this is our 7th Green Flag and we got our first one in 2002. We will be presented with the Green Flag on May 27th
at the Silver Springs Hotel, Cork. We will celebrate the achievement afterwards!

Scoil Eoin, Tahilla, Sneem has just been awarded The Active School Flag (ASF). There was great excitement when the flag arrived.
The ASF is an initiative by the Department of Education and Skills to recognise schools that strive to achieve a physical educated and physically active school community. The ASF is funded by the Teacher education Section of the Department of Education and Skills and based in the Mayo Education Centre.
Work on the project began in the school in September and various activities were introduced.
A Breaktime Buddies rota was established. A list of popular playground games was also brainstormed by the committee and displayed on the ASF notice board to provide ideas and inspiration. Each pair organised a game or sport each day and explained the rules and encouraged younger pupils to get involved.
