The Rockmount Care Centre celebrated it’s 10th Anniversary with an Open day at the Centre on Sunday 8th December. Over 80 persons attended this event and all were treated to full lunch and entertainment. Rockmount caters for Alzheimer/Dementia and other neurological sufferers in Killarney,Kenmare and Kilgarvan hinterland. Opened in 2003 on just 2 days a week basis its services were sought by so many that within a year it operated on a 5 day a week basis. The provision of a wheelchair accessible bus and full time driver meant clients could be picked up at their homes and transported to Kilgarvan on a daily basis where their every need is catered for. Rockmount provides meals on wheels to those in need and among the other services it provides is a laundry service, Each Tuesday a doctor is in attendance to see after the local population. A weekly visit from a physiotherapist is among those other services also. Each Tuesday the centre caters for the active elderly and full lunch is provided. Anyone seeking the services of Rockmount should contact the Nurse manager Bridie Dillon on 064 6685952 who will be happy to show you round and offer advice.
