Kenmare Walking Club

The Kenmare Walking Club are delighted to announce that the ever popular ‘Shoesday Tuesday’ evening walks will resume for the Summer, beginning on Tuesday June 3rd at 7pm, meet outside Hallisseys supermarket in the Square.
The first walk will follow the Beara Way route from Raleigh Bridge in Bonane to the Sailor’s Bar in Droumoughty. Distance approximately 8km. This is a road walk so walking boots are not needed. A pair of walking shoes or runners will suffice. Please bring waterproofs, this is Ireland, after all! Contact walk leader Helen on 087 9901620 if you would like to come. All welcome.
On the weekend of June 14th adn 15th, the walking club are planning a two-day walk along the Kerry Way from Waterville to Sneem with a stop off in Caherdaniel on the Saturday night. The plan is to camp in Caherdaniel for the night before resuming the wallk the next day. There are many options available if you would not like to do the two days. Why not join us for the Waterville – Caherdaniel leg or just for the Caherdaniel to Sneem walk on the Sunday? Camping is also optional. There are other types of accommodation available including B&B and hotel if you would like to stay the night.
Whilst Kerry is renowned for having the highest mountains in Ireland, the Kerry Way avoids the higher peaks and opts for the lower reaches of mountain ridges. The trail is intended to quickly progress through a variety of different landscapes and experiences, giving the walker a wider appreciation for the county.
