Positive Birth Movement Group is now located in Kenmare

The Positive Birth Movement is an initiative started by Milli Hill in the UK to allow women to meet in a supportive environment where positive birth is discussed and celebrated. Ireland’s first Positive Birth Movement Group, the South Kerry Positive Birth Movement Group is now located in Kenmare. It is facilitated by Sue Nikolovski, a mother of three, who is passionate about positive birth and the empowerment of women. South Kerry Positive Birth aims to bring together moms and moms-to-be to share and discuss their birth stories. They aim to support genuine choice in birth and value the birth experience as meaningful and sacred, and to show that birth is an empowering rite of passage that each mom should experience and own. We believe that scaremongering and negativity both in the media and amongst ourselves as women needs to be counteracted by positivity and faith. Faith in our bodies and its ability to do wonderful, amazing things!
They encourage first time mothers but also welcome those expecting subsequent babies who are searching for information and affirmation on a better way to birth, and support those seeking VBAC’s enthusiastically and welcome any successful VBAC mom’s who can share their experience.
South Kerry Positive Birth Movement Group will meet August 25th, October 6th, November 17th and December 15th 2014 in the Family Resource Centre at 7pm for approximately one and a half hours. Tea and Coffee will be provided and if the facilitator is having a productive day, some homemade baked goods too!
