Love Kenmare? Then you’ll love the ‘Weekend in Kenmare’ book

The Weekend in Kenmare Book was launched by Senator Mark Daly on Friday 8th August at 6pm in the Square, Kenmare. It was a bright, though windy evening and the people of Kenmare turned out a very respectable crowd to celebrate the occasion. This wonderful 120 page hardback book features the work of 48 photographers and is a community project in association with the Kenmare Chronicle. It is packed full of beautiful images of Kenmare and its people taken over the weekend of 9th – 11th May 2014 and will be a lovely keepsake for years to come.
Four photographs were selected by an independent judging panel with the winners being announced on the night. They were as follows –
Overall Winner – Brian Dunne for his Atlantic bar image
Highly Commended – Billy Clifford for his Reenagros Bat Santuary image
Highly Commended – Jeff Rousseau for his Storm on Kenmare Bay image
Highly Commended – Agata Krzyzek for her image of Killowen church
Special thanks to The Kenmare Bay Hotel & Resort, Park Hotel Kenmare, Dromquinna Manor and Parknasilla Resort & Spa for their generous sponsorship of the prizes, Norman McCloskey for selecting the overall winning image and The Kenmare News for sponsoring drinks on the launch night.
The book is now on sale for €20 in Kenmare Post Office, Kenmare Book Shop, McCarthy’s Book Shop, Nest, Brenmar Jon, Crowleys Service Station, Willowfield Garden Centre and Dennison Design on Rock Street. Proceeds from the sale will go towards the publication of future issues of the Kenmare Chronicle and other associated community projects.
